Recent advances in steroidal glycoalkaloid biosynthesis in the genus <i>Solanum</i>
نویسندگان
چکیده
Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) are specialized metabolites found in members of Solanum species, and also known as toxic substances food crops such tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), potato tuberosum), eggplant melongena). SGA biosynthesis can be divided into two main parts: formation steroidal aglycones, which derived from cholesterol, glycosylation at the C-3 hydroxy group. This review focuses on recent studies that shed light complete process aglycone structural diversification SGAs by duplicated dioxygenases, well development non-toxic potatoes through genome editing using these findings.

Recent Advances in Hemophilia Gene Therapy
Heterogeneous loss of function mutations at F8 and F9 genes causes X-linked recessive bleeding disorders, hemophilia A (HA) and hemophilia B (HB), respectively. HA is clinically indistinguishable from HB and accounts for more than 80% of hemophilia cases; the former affects 1/5000 and the latter 1/25000 male births worldwide. In Iran, it is estimated that around 4300 HA and 900 HB patients are ...

Organophosphorous compounds have been employed as pesticides and chemical warfare nerve agents. Toxicity of organophosphorous compounds is a result of excessive cholinergic stimulation through inhibition of acetyl cholinesterase. Clinical manifestations include cholinergic syndromes, central nervous system and cardiovascular disorders. Organophosphorous pesticide poisonings are common in develo...

The immune system of mammalian organisms undergoes alterations that may account for an increased susceptibility to certain infections, autoimmune diseases, or malignancies. Well characterized are age related defect in T cell functions and cell mediated immunity. Although it is well established that the functional properties of T cells decrease with age, its biochemical and molecular nature is...
متن کاملMetabolic compensation of steroidal glycoalkaloid biosynthesis in transgenic potato tubers: using reverse genetics to confirm the in vivo enzyme function of a steroidal alkaloid galactosyltransferase
Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) are secondary metabolites of Solanaceous plants. Two predominant glycoalkaloids, a-chaconine and asolanine are produced in potatoes. An antisense transgene was constructed to down-regulate glycoalkaloid biosynthesis using a potato cDNA encoding a sterol alkaloid glycosyltransferase (Sgt1). Introduction of this construct into potatoes resulted in some lines with a...
متن کاملRecent Advances in the Recombinant Biosynthesis of Polyphenols
Plants are the source of various natural compounds with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical importance which have shown numerous health benefits with relatively fewer side effects. However, extraction of these compounds from native producers cannot meet the ever-increasing demands of the growing population due to, among other things, the limited production of the active compound(s). Their producti...
